Who knows the best way to ship a cat back exhaust?

UPS wants about $250 to ship a full cat back for a New Edge GT from Kentucky to Georgia. That is insane.

The exhaust would be shipped from just outside of Nashville, to the Augusta, GA area.

Anyone coming down from that part of the Country for the Master's? Do you feel like being a good Samaritan? (Joking people)

I honestly can't believe that shipping quote. I saw it with my own eyes thoigh. That is more than I was paying for the exhaust. It wouldn't be an issue, but I was banking on that cat back.

I used to ship bigger items through greyhound. Bumpers and hoods would be 60$-100$. However that was 7-10 years ago.
Are they still in business? I haven’t seen one of their buses in years

Is that quote UPS store or UPS? UPS Store adds a hefty surcharge to shipping fees. Either would charge you an oversized package rate but that still sounds way too high.

I would bring it but hate golf.

Cheaper to rent a pickup for a weekend and go get it
Not really. Revvv is probably about 9 hours away, so he'd be looking at a 2-day rental. And maybe a hotel room unless he has a second person to go with him to rotate the non-stop 18 hour trip.

Revvv, check FedEx Ground. For larger items I've always found them cheaper than UPS.

OP: is it being shipped in one large box or several smaller boxes? Get the dimensions of the box(es) and get your own quote. Sign up for an account (it's free, basically just a login) for FedEx and UPS. You will instantly see cheaper shipping rates.

I use Omaha Steaks for all my shipping needs.

Haha,
My mom used them to travel all the time. She hates flying. Their cost to bus her here from Chicago was more than a plane ticket. She end up deciding to fly. I feel less anxious now.
She is a people person but naive and likely to hand a 20 to someone saying they want a bottle and will bring the change back.

I'm not a golf fan either. I'm just stuck in this town.

Is that the quote from the seller?

I shipped a cat-back years back and it was about $90 bucks UPS ground. I broke it down as much as I could, put the exhaust into smaller pieces, wrapped each piece with bubble wrap and thick paper and boxed it up. Box was huge, but, only weighed about 65 pounds or something.

For what you're trying to have shipped, find a small LTL carrier and have the seller box the exhaust and secure it to a skid. Should be a minimum charge of about $125 or less for trucking.

Maybe see if you or the seller has any acquaintances that work for a company that ships a lot of freight who is willing to let you ship from their facility.

Big shipping companies receive large discounts on freight due to volume. I shipped my broken t56 through my company from Utah to FL and it was cheaper than that. Geez

I saw the actual UPS quotes.
The seller is a friend, and someone that I know is not trying to get extra money out of the sale.

We were both blindsided by the $250 quote.

I used to make regular drives to Nashville for work, but I don't have a reason to make the drive. Plus, it is close to a 800-1000 mile round trip.
