Last week some guys were talking about some Mexico runs and I was brought into their group text. About five cars showed up and all were making 200+ rwhp more than me. I did not care because I had the Racestars on and wanted low rolls or a dig.

The only car that bit was a 630rwhp built 6.4L Whipple Charger and
we decided to go from a 20 roll. We roll out the spot and my passenger does the countdown and we hit at the same time. I pulled a few inches through first, luckily hit second and pulled a few more inches. At this time I am wondering why this guy has not pulled me yet? Well as I luckily hit third we hit 80 MPH and he comes around me, we end the race at 100 MPH with my front bumper a few feet back from his rear bumper.

I know this is a story about me taking the loss, I just wonder why it took him that long to pull around me. It was a fun race and enjoy!

well, he was pulling pretty hard on u bro. another couple seconds and it would have been several car lengths and it wasn't exactly a long race.

The Chargers are hi-way monsters the way their geared and once they get rolling especially with a blower added their fast. I own one and drive one at work and once they get up to speed they pull hard up top.

its not all that surprising considering how heavy the Charger is. I wudnt expect him to take off on by much at all if anything but once he gets going its all over if ur essentially stock.

630 rwhp you can bet he was spinning and if the vid kept going you was about to get yanked by bus lengths lol

I run my buddies here and there with cars that are all faster than my Boss, but the Boss can hang in there. From Vipers to Hellcats and C7Zs, I can usually make it a race below triple digits.

That’s an older charger with the 5-speed auto, not the 8-speed. Big difference.

8 spd or auto - still 4500 lbs

Weight has nothing to do with my argument. There is a huge difference in powerband between the 5 speed auto & 8 speed auto, especially from the initial hit when it has to downshift. The gearing is much more aggressive with the 8-speed.

Yep no 8 speed there and the weak 6.4. Gotta be a built motor. $10-15K in that thing...

I mainly was surprised he did not straight up walk me from the hit. I knew around triple digits it was over lol. It was a 20-100 race.

He said it stepped out a little and he hooked, I knew I was going to get pulled top end lol.

It is crazy our cars can do that. Most cars sub-600 rwhp I am not scared of from a 20 roll.

lol I like how it stops recording 4 seconds in.

It plays the whole video for me, 9-10 seconds.

Were you the driver and the camera man?

No, I definitely would missed all the gears then. I was happy that I did not get locked out of 2nd and 3rd.

I would not be afraid of an eight speed either, he may of began the pull on me around 70 instead of 80 haha. I wish air would of clutch dropped it,I may of been able to hold him off a little more.

It is a bored and stroked 5.7 to 6.4, P&P built heads, mildish cam, and 2.9 Whipple built by Petty’s Garage. Apparently made 630 rwhp on 93. The build cost $30k and take all of this with a grain of salt as this was what I was told.

So the auto had to kick down or went late, then as soon as he turned on the radio to this, you stopped recording. Just no.

We hit at the same time and lol, he actually let off a few seconds after that. We only were running to 100. We are not dumb, we all knew what would happen over 100 lol. By they way that was one of the 10 second Snapchat video’s and yes it is crap quality.

5 vs 8 spd is a huge difference owned both 8spd is faster and keeps you in the power band .

Yes, that is true and I wanted to race him either way. That is why I said the 8 would of passed me at 70 instead of 80. The 8 could of hurt him as well down low if it puts more power to the ground at that given launch RPM.

No offense to anyone in this thread but IMHO a stock Boss will not hold off Vipers, C6/C7 Z06s, or Hellcats unless they are absolutely annihilating their tires or have no idea what they’re doing. I used to own a 2013 Boss with track key, CAI, and lightweight forged wheels. I ran my buddies bone stock 2016 6.4 Challenger 8-speed from a roll a few times and whoever got the hit would edge the other one out. You better not miss a gear because that 8-speed will be all over you. Now add some boost to the 6.4 and it’s lights out. FWIW, I got rid of the Boss and bought myself a Charger SRT 392 not too long after :D

I think the guy who said that is about as clueless as the op. Yea, in an even start you will be neck and neck, once you both go the Viper/C7Z/Hellcat will run once it has traction. Unlucky for me I have Forgelines that need an RMA (leaking rivets), but the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S grips like a mofo even in 40F weather.
My stock pirelli's could only dream of doing that. Sadly im running the pirellis right now. Prefect name too, P-zero as in zero grip. LOL what a joke!

I said most cars 600 horsepower and under, I am rolling on 15” DR’s. I have a Viper buddy with a Gen V that may be interested in a 20-100 run. He is still stock as far as I know. The deal running 20-100, do you guys actually think I thought I would win? The basis of this video is to show that a stock Boss is pretty stout. Heck, my buddy with a KB Terminator refuses to run me from a 20 roll. I only race for fun.

I am clueless about why you say I am clueless. The other guy that you call clueless is another Boss owner. These are 20-100 rolls for me. I know good and well those cars would yank my Boss around triple digits. Those cars would roll out on me up there. I would be interested in running a stock Gen V from a 20 before I sell my DR’s though. The Charger did not really spin bad and the 7500 RPM redline I have with the Boss gearing moves out for what the car is.

I guess we should buy Viper’s, C6Z/C7Z’s, and Hellcats to go 60-160 during races in traffic.

C6Z for me!

Exactly, you’re hooking and they are spinning. FYI, my C6Z with an air filter and tune was trapping 130 mph in the 1/4 mile. From any roll speed it would have demolished my Boss. It’s not even a contest.
