fuel hose to use for E85 and where to get it?

once again Ive got a failed Fragola hose end (one of the crimped on kind I cant replace) and Im done with them. I need to replace 2 hoses in my engine bay so I can drive my car again. All the current hose is PTFE lined, Id rather not gamble on potential fuel smell

What hose are people using for E85 and where are you getting it? I need to order something ASAP in order to fix the car this weekend. It needs to be available with a black cover and preferably black fittings.

I have aluminum vice jaws for putting together hose ends along with some good cutters as well. I've heard some horror stories about assembling some of the push lock stuff so Im a little leery of it but if thats what it comes down to I'll make do.

I use Fragola PTFE line and there is no fuel smell, I believe you may be mistaken Fragola non Teflon line that uses the push lock style crimps for the fuel smell. Switch to PTFE and use AN fittings. I fabbed all my own lines for my fuel system and remote oil breather. I believe Lethal Performance sells kits that are complete, but are they expensive!

Fragola PTFE here as well. Use the AN fittings. If you've got any slack, you may even be able to cut off the crimped end and save some money.

i have the PTFE kit from lethal, fragola swapped to these hoses with a shiny black finish that use some kinda special fitting thats not removable/reusable. Being the kit precut and assembled by them theres not enough slack even if I had the right fittings and tools. The only reason I have fuel smell is because a fitting is leaking at the assembly pin.

Ive had more Fragola fittings leak at that pin than not, Im tired of dealing with them (I even sent a bunch of stuff back to be leak checked because they didnt believe and were stunned when they confirmed it) but Ive bought fittings since then and still had them leak at that pin

Here is where I ordered all my lines and fittings. They are stainless steel braided PTFE lines. I guess the only Fragola line I have is the one line in Lethals Budget return kit they give you that's #6 (looks just like the lines I ordered, so I don't know). I got away from my small factory lines and upgraded everything else to #8. Hope this helps.

I still think you have the push lock style hoses which is why your having leaks. Post pics of what you got!

its leaking at the assembly pin on the female threaded part of the hose end, its not a hose end assembly issue.



Doing some searching around I did find that it could be 1) a bad fitting or 2) a mating surface issue. It turns out Earl's makes some conical seals for this purpose, just ordered a set to try out since 4 of em is under $20.

I can understand why those in the picture might leak. AN fittings use a brass “olive” (or ferrule) that crushes to provide the seal at the fitting/hose mating point. Check out this article, I still recommend the AN fittings over anything else. Hope this helps and goodluck with troubleshooting!

Look at this picture, on the female part of the fitting, the part you turn to tighten it down, that little pin you can see at the top of the fitting - that is where its leaking, you can watch the fuel slowly come up out of the hole around it.

this is a not hose end to hose assembly issue.

Im hoping these conical seals will do the trick. The fitting was fine until I had to remove it and put it back on. The angle its on and passing through the power steering lines makes it hard to line up so I can see where they may be a mating surface issue from it not lining up just right. If so I owe Fragola an apology and will gladly eat crow later.

time for another helping for me I guess...

Took that hose end off Sunday and after looking over the male fitting on the regulator saw what looked almost like a hair and it was a piece of one of the threads. I replaced the male fitting and put the conical seal on there because why not. I took the car out for ~30 minutes tonight and that fitting is dry as a bone.

XRP has some pretty freaking insane fuel lines.. I'm running them in my engine bay.. Super expensive though, but but tons of flexibility over the PTFE stuff. It's rated for Nitro methane and pretty much any type of fuel imaginable.. They use it on apache's

I was gonna say it must be a bad mate at the flare. Sometimes tightening and loosening the fitting will kindof form them together a little if you have a small leak.

and thats probably the root cause I would have gone after if I didnt have so many other bad fittings in the past. The first go around with all this I sent them back all the assembled hoses and the fittings they attached to so they could test them and they all checked out to be bad fittings. It seemed to fit the pattern

You want a hose made specifically for E85 with the flexibility of Starlite, but with the strength of a stainless braid liner, yet won't permeate hydrocarbons through it. It also has a higher temperature rating of the liner before bursting while under sustained pressure for a much lower chance of a fuel fed fire. This is the only company that I know of that makes a fuel hose specifically for E85
