That's good news I don't know why when I called ford they said there hasn't been any parts even made yet. Spoke to 4 dealers and they all said the same thing. My body shop also was told there are none available at this time. What part of the country are you from? and what dealer are you using?

I think people are getting confused. The OP needs a complete airbag, the recall replaces only the explosive inflator portion.

If the part replaced on the invoice is 5R3Z-63043b13-A you were done a major disservice as that does not close the recall. There is actually a required stop sale and return on that part number. If it was 5R3Z-63043B13-C that is the recall part for 2005-2012 Mustangs. 2013-2014 have an expected parts availability of 3rd quarter 2016 with no part number released yet.

I asked how he found something that Ford engineers say doesn't exist yet he just said he has access to parts that other branches of the company don't have so maybe the air bags aren't that far off from shipping.

Thanks for that info, I walked to parts and verified it was indeed the part# ending in C

Slight rant here, but they will not do the same thing for a dealer employee if we call. Makes us look like idiots.

Same thing happens to me in my line of work. (HVAC) the customer calls and complains and the company does something it says it wouldn't do when I call making me look like I'm lazy or a Liar. They are all afraid of a bad name on social media.

Ford is short changing owners. Honda is going so far as to offering long-term rentals and having customers park their cars and not use them until the recalls are done. If it were me, I'd talk to a lawyer about forcing them to replace the vehicle if they cannot provide the part for it.

Dealers are also supposedly not allowed to sell the vehicle until the recalled part is fixed, but I've seen Bosses and GT500's with the recall still active up for sale by Ford dealers. my guess is they are making customers sign waivers.

I spend a good deal a month on insurance just to have a new-vehicle replacement policy rider on my car. Shouldn't have to, but I added it right after the whole airbag fiasco was announced.

I had my driver's air bag inflator replaced 08/16/2016 at Baxter Ford Omaha. I asked about passenger side replacement but the service advisor had no information.
