Yup, more than enough wasn't making a big deal of it. Just pointing it out so if OP Googled Grade 8 or looking in the store for it there was no confusion.

It's hard to find 10.9 that size, you can get DIN 9 just about anywhere which is 12.9 but then you have to live with internal hex head cap screws.

Appreciate the catch

sweet, got new cooler to blower bolts m5x.80x16 bolts from lower with some washers. i ended up getting the cap screw all type. i saw anther thread where they were using ss allen style heads and they were fine with blue locktite. now i just need supercharger oil and a pulley puller to get the the other hub off and replace it. i also got red rtv gasket maker so i can finally get this reassembled. pretty excited....

Purests will shake their head at SS with aluminum but for our uses its barely worth noting. I personally like the hex cap / Allen you have its a clean look. Stop posting and get that baby on!

Make sure you have 2-3 cans of brake clean, I couldn't believe the gunk in the IC. Might be a good time to think about the PVC and the hose to the lower intake if you havent. Take care of the gunk transfer whiles it's convenient.

I sprayed 6 cans through mine and flushed with the garden hose between cans and gunk was still coming out. Seems like it would be best to soak in a tub of cleaner for a bit.

When the blower is laying flat on a table without the intercooler bolted to it and the drain plug out you'll know it's full when the oil "barely" starts to trickle down the threads for the plug. It takes about 6oz.

And believe it or not I could save that blower and it would make great numbers. The outlet doesn't mean squat all the power is in the inlet. I used to knock money off of people's home ports if they sent them in for me to finish because they saved me some work.

What oil do you recommend for the various blowers? Specifically I'm wondering what to put in my 2.9 Whipple. In the past when I called Whipple they told me "Whipple oil" lol. Nice and expensive, allow us to sell it to you.

I went through 4 cans , toothbrush, and used a hose for my IC. Looks way different than it did. I was going to use red locktite but read the blue should be fine as well.

I can refill the oil while the blower is on a table without the ic attached? I thought the oil would leak out if i did that i honestly didnt know that. Think i may use mobil 1 or amsoil 10w30. Ive read gm sc oil is cheap too but m1 should be fine as well and i have a qt in my garage. I just need the the 2.76 put on and im ready to rock n roll. May have to take ot to a shop and get it put on as i dont have the puller and need it to get the previous hub off and replace ot wth my redfire BF 2.76

Malcolm,

When I first got my whipple I did a ton of research and was pretty sure i crossed the whipple oil over to be the same as GM supercharger oil. While expensive it was much cheaper than some of the other alternatives.

From you local GM dealership I take it? Does it have a more specific name or do I just ask for some supercharger oil?

Just going through my emails tonight and see Whipple replied to an email I had sent them on the oil. They sent me the usual buy from them but this time also included this. Ford dealership part # XL4 of a GM dealership part #12345982. So cool, that's what I need.

Looks like you have the part number but if you walk into any decent gm dealership and tell them supercharger oil they should know what you're talking about. It comes in little bottles and I believe even says "supercharger oil" on the bottle.

I would pull lower intake and clamp pcv line or plug it off..

Now is the time..

I always pull my blower with lower as a unit..

That cooler should be cleaned alot..just alot of work but worth the time...

Ive had mine apart many times and have reused old bolts..

I use lightest loctite and still those bolts are tight coming out..

You are in California right? Plugging the PCV probably isn't an option for you. That's the only way to keep the intercooler totally clean. I had a catch can and the pre filters and my intercooler was still gunked up.

hotcobra03- Brings up a good point, now would be the time to replace the hose on the bottom of the blower if you still have the original one on there.
