Yep. We lived off of Post Oak? I actually worked in the warehouse for a year in a computer room after college. this was 1990.

I used to go there all the time when I was a kid and wonder around the store. I bough a lot of fishing supplies there over the years. We even had an overnight cub scout sleep over in one of the offices. I would guess it was in 1995. loved that place.

to the OP if you dislike Houston so much no one is stopping you from heading up north.

That is amazing, this is exactly why I have a Seattle savings account. Moving as soon as I get a degree and a job prospect.

BOB posted those, I was quoting him. It should be looking like that tonight at sunset though.

I've never been to Houston but I'm told it's the cultural center of Texas. Sports, museums, clubs, rodeos, etc. You are also near Galveston and Corpus Christi. Big Bend is not to far away either (for Texas).

All of this is incorrect.

All Houston really has is great racing roads and food. Dallas, San Antonio and Austin kill it in terms of culture.

You're "near" Galveston, as in it's an hour south. Corpus is far, and Big Bend is on the other side of the damn state. Like, 600 miles away. Did you even look at a map?

LMAO

OP, I believe you should think long and hard about this. Seattle is just a couple of rungs down from the cost of living compared to SF and NYC. It is not cheap. It is and can be beautiful, but there is a lot of over cast. But that cost of living tho', that will be a wake up call.

A couple of cities I would consider outside of Cali; Portland, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Colorado Springs, CO to name a few. They are beautiful and have a good spread of things to do, culture, night life, and back roads to have fun.

Everything you said is pretty spot on except recommending Portland. As a city, it is the asshole of America and the hipster inhabitant of it couldn't be more proud of how shitty looking of a city they have made it. It also gets more rain than Seattle and looks even more gloomy on the backdrop of downtown Portland. If you want debauchery and to feel dirty then move to Portland, but that's about the only unique thing you will get out of that city.

By the way, it was 90 here yesterday and it's creeping up there today. Last night at 11pm the temperature was nearly 80 degrees.

I have talked to numerous people who live in and around Seattle.....not the rain, per se, but the constant clouds or threat of rain is what many complained about.

I agree with everyone stating don't move based solely on vacation experiences......

I actually like the northwest for the fact it does have more precipitation and moisture and is generally cooler, I feel like everything is "cleaner" in a sense. Where I came from (Central valley) everything was so nasty and dusty all the time. If I didnt move to San Diego I probably would be considering a move to the northwest due to that fact. I think the wetness and greenery of that area is beautiful.

Me and the gf were vacationing in San Diego once every other month at one point. Last two times we did "normal stuff" IE checked out neighborhood retail outlets, checked out areas, drove around in various freeways during peak commute times, and the last time vacationing I also had an interview at the place I work at now. We realized that even at its worst, it was still way better than where we lived (central valley) at its best.

Yeah, but that's also a nice thing that we don't normally get that hot. Hottest I've ever felt in western Washington was 115. It was 105 today in Spokane where my parents live. East side of the Cascade Mountains is a completely different climate and scenery.

I've been contemplating moving from SD to Texas lately. Getting sick and tired of the atmosphere around here. I would love to take a trip to Texas, if i had time to check it out.

I like it here down in the Portland/Vancouver area. I'm about 15 minutes north of Portland...we have been having awesome weather compared to previous years so far, and it looks like it will be continuing on. The car scene is pretty diverse for the most part. Sure there are a lot of imports, but what city doesn't have that? If anyone says that the northwest only has a bunch of rice burners, they should quit hanging out in the Safeway parking lots and actually go to all the local tracks and car events we have here. It's a fantastic place for a car guy to live, or any motorsports/powersports fan for that matter. Snow capped mountains are are an hour away, and then sand dunes and desert climate is another hour.
