Just received my order from MRT for the interceptor axle back, which includes the can style mufflers and 4" quad tips. I have not weighed each side yet, but MRT claims a 20lb weight savings over the stock mufflers. The exhaust looks very nice and well constructed and "appears" to be easy to install myself on a set of race ramps. Either way I will be tackling this myself so hopefully all goes smooth.
I haven't seen anyone on here run this axle back yet, so it looks like I may be one of the first. Once on I'll be sure to snap more pictures and hopefully get some videos of the car idling, driving by, and part/WOT throttle.

Here are a few pictures of the system, albeit taking from an iphone camera.

I have been looking at those and a few other options. I believe I read somewhere on the forums that those may drone? Please let us know your review when you have some time.

Also, is the rest of your exhaust stock?

Thanks!

Subing. I keep thinking I should up-date the exhaust on my '14 Vert. Will only consider an Axle-back or Catback. Rest of the Exhaust will remain stock with Cats. For me, looking for:

A little more volume
Deep Muscle Car sound
Little or no Drone

Heard what the owner said we're the FRPP Axleback's at a show. Didn't like them, but not sure they really we're the FRPP.

Heard good things about the SSW Catback... Thanx

Yep, the rest of my exhaust is stock for now. These aren't a chambered muffler so I'm not sure how much drone they will yield, but I will say they are one of the louder and deeper sounding axlebacks I've heard samples of. If there is a little drone I'm definitely ok with it, so as long as they aren't as bad as my old 2 chamber Flowmasters with offroad-H pipe I ran back in the early 2000's. :dancenana:

SW or SS mufflers will get the job done.

Getting the stock mufflers off is the hardest part once they're off you have all the room in the world w/ the new ones.

I saw a video where it was suggesting to push the stock mufflers towards the back of the car, hence extending the rubber exhaust hanger in order to reach the hangers mounting bolt. Once that bolt is removed, apparently this allows for easier removal of the muffler. Any suggestions?

I believe that was the method I used. It's a pretty straight forward install, I didn't even lift my car to install mine.

Exhaust half way on. Unfortunately it took me over an hour to get the stock axle back removed, and the new MRT on. I tried manipulating the exhaust in the hanger, but realized the panhard bar definitely gets in the way, so here's what I did.

1) Unbolted the exhaust clamp with a 13mm socket.
2) Removed the muffler from the rear most exhaust hanger. This helped to tilt the axle back downwards to reach the bracket bolts. It helped to put a little grease on the exhaust mounting bracket so it would slip out of the rubber bracket easier.
3) Removed three 13mm exhaust bracket bolts holding the axle back in place.

Axle back fell right out.

Drivers side was pretty easy once I removed the muffler bracket entirely. The axle back went right in with ease. I "might" need to adjust axle back very slightly to make sure the tips are aligned, but won't know until I can get a better look from behind.

Crappy cell phone pics: (Edit, not sure why the pictures are showing up sideways, but you can still get a decent idea how they look, which is almost stock )

Yep,,,,pulled my brackets off too when I did my SS's. Much easier to work with with bracket off. What kind of money you have in those??

Yeah that makes it so much easier. I can probably get the passenger side done in less than 30 minutes once the car is jacked up.

They were $995 plus shipping.

Looking forward to your impression of these after you get some seat time. I love my SS's,,,but these might give folks another option for canister type exhaust. I looked at MRT and watched the vid of the black car which was running stock exhaust with the axle backs. Was afraid they would be to much with LT's and H pipe.

I can see where you'd be cautious with running an axle back such as MRT with LT's and H pipe. I'm sure it would be very loud.

They should sound very similar to the S/S borla. With the offroad H. It's LOUD. I enjoy going under bridges and gassing it now. It's how a Shelby should sound.

Only small thing I don't like is using the Bluetooth. now Convertible with exhaust...it's impossible to hear. (it gets them off the phone quick!)

Yep,,,underpasses are fun,,,scare people when I jump on it going under..

I can only imagine on the phone with the SS. I get people saying that they can hear mine with windows up in a coupe!!

From a drivers perspective, The car sounds 100% different, top up, vs top down. Mine is pretty quiet with the top up. Top down, The sound of the supercharger is right there, and the exhaust is everywhere!

I'm sure this will sound damn near identical with the MRT.

I like the look of these, how would these sound with an x-pipe you think? I like how the tips look a lot like the factory tips. One thing I just don't get…… why are axle backs so expensive for this car!!!???
