Display Ad discussion MEGA Thread

I was wondering what is going on with these, I click a normal thread link and get hijacked to a skinny banner advert. There is no way to click to close, it doesn't timeout and automatically take me to the thread, and hitting Reload/refresh just reshows the same advert.

I've even tried clicking the ad, and it just leads me to a place to buy diamonds, don't want to buy diamonds to see a thread.

The only way to get to my destination is to close the tab and try again from the forum main page, and sometimes it will frustratingly do the exact same thing.

I understand that ads, and popups pay the bills, but this behaves more like malware than adware.

This doesn't happen to me on any other forums or around the web.

These are currently popping up on my iPhone (hardly use the desktop site) and are uncontrollable. I can't even stop the page fast enough and it opens the App Store at the same time.

When I'm browsing on IE10 (work...), I get requests to download something every time I go to a different page on SVTP.

I recently noticed a heavy use of pop-up ads in these forums. I understand the importance of advertising, but you do not need to have pop-up ads in photos or in the message.

Please post a screenshot and/or additional information, and we'll take care of them.

They're not supposed to appear, but ad networks cannot filter them out 100%.

You guys must have a new as network. I've been getting tons of popups and banners on my iPhone, in addition to the super annoying ads that automatically redirect and open the App Store and take to to Candy Crush or something similar. This started maybe a week ago.

The site has become basically unusable in my iPhone. It took me 5 attempts to type this reply without getting redirected to the App Store

The thing is that the mobile ad space is still a bit of the wild wild west. Mobile Ad CPMs are low enough that nefarious advertisers can afford to take a chance at spreading pop ups and other crappy display ads. It's tough for ad networks to weed them out. In the desktop display ad space, the higher cost of traffic has weeded most of the bad players out of the upper end of the market, relegating them to the 3rd tier display networks.

The best thing to do is to post a screenshot or enough info on the ad so that I can block it.

I have started getting pop ups on my tablet.

Pop ups are from progressive insurance , tide laundry soap ....
Never used to happen .

My tablet is set to deny all pop ups , excluding such as when receiving a private message , where I have to authorize such .

This never used to happen.

New Ad on SVTP

Atone else having problems with the new bottom banner ad on SVTP not closing, modifying screen size (it shrinks the screen when it loads and if you get rid of it you can't adjust the screen back), opening apps in the store without touching it?
