Loved the movie. I wonder if there are any other trucks from that movie sitting in bone yards still. I enjoyed seeing all the old rigs running around.

did you guys know the FIRST cut of the movie was given a X rating? due to the extreme gore /violence / blood/guts in it? One scene in main focus being the paver and the boy getting run over, they did a head explosion scene that was extremely graphic and that garnered the X rating so it was cut and thus we got the R rated version. I dont know if access of the X rated footage is even avaliable now although I do know of some local people that have seen it....

I liked Maximum Overdrive so much that it was the very first LASERDISC I bought. Anyone still remember those? Big as an LP vinyl disc but actually an early form of DVD. Just lower resolution and a short lifespan.

And I still think that the little kid in the movie was a better actor than Emilio Estevez.

I once had a BETA machine and a Laserdisc. Talk about the wrong branch on the electronics evolution tree.

Does anybody remember the movie "THE WRAITH"? I think it had Charlie Sheen in it, where he gets killed and comes back as a driver of some bad ass car.

Man, this brings back memories! The worse part of Max Overdrive was that damned wreckers starter! You know the old one at that little store where the ditsy chick with the annoying voice wouldn't shut the hell up, CURRTIIIIIISSSS!!! IIRC it was some type of air power tool I think?

Were you able to catch some snap shots? Weather was crazy here, so I'm guessing maybe you guys had some bad weather down there too!

Surprised they haven't tried to remake this film, I'm always gonna love the original, but If they did it right, a newer version would be awesome.

And yea, ACDC would have to do the soundtrack.

I think we all can agree Curtis was majorly F**ked if he was a newly wed....Geez. A nagger like that, I would have purposely drove in front of one of those trucks.

No it is an air starter a lot of old diesels had them. But was gradually phased out with electric types in the early 70's by 1977 they was pretty much done. I think the last company to use them was Autocar in 1971?? or 2

Truck stop

Always awesome to nit pick movies for their ignorance...My buddy know's alot about weapons and he points that out all the time in films, and I just sit there like a dumb ass.....what?

That is crazy! And it is a small world. Do you know if the truck stop is even there anymore? I always wondered if it was even street legal to have a hood ornament of that size!

The building being destroyed was the end of that place. The area is filled with housing businesses I40 made that road a ghost town.
They used more than one location.

I can't believe there are four pages about this. HAHA. But seriously, awesome movie. One of my favorites from childhood. The soundtrack was nothing but AC/DC!
