Maybe 450 at the crank but no way is he making that at the wheels.

On motor mine made about 455 with a H/C/I/bolt-on setup.

Exactly what I was thinking but he said, "This ****er made 450 at the WHEELS" I knew they didn't make that much from the research I had done on them before. I wish I had a faster car so I could have called him out lol. Car is still extremely nice though, and he always waves when he drives past me. Thing sounds so mean too

Until it sounds close to this, or has a whine, it aint making that much (we wont count spray though..). :lol1:

stock for stock what has been well established? there are tons of cars faster stock than a c5z. I would think any post 2010 gt500 is faster, boss would be about the same, normal 5.0 not much slower. now im sure in the tuns the corvette will have an advantage over more cars.

I'm not trying to be rude but same how for the Boss? At a course / track the brakes will fade and things will heat up as time passes. Not to mention heat soak for the GT500.

Only a fanboy would say C5Z = GT500 / Boss for track days.

Im hardly a GM fanboy the only car I have ever had are mustangs. I was not talking about track days specifically, I was simple stating that todays cars will have more of an edge when it comes to straight line acceleration. But the corvette would likely come closer to the others newer cars in the handling department.

I loved mine stock, bone stock on stock tires. It was a consistent 12.30 car @ 116.
Took Mustang 10yrs to compete with that time. Stayed stock until a lifter went bad. Put a $400 cam in it. Been terrorizing these Fan boys ever since.
Terminators becomes the most fun to run when you start modding.

You're both saying the same thing, he just misread the post.

Glad you liked your first impression of the C5Z. a 10 year old car that can still outrun 95% of the performance cars you can buy still till this day :)

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

That's the power of cocaine, baby!

Seriously, 95%? Not sure what you consider performance cars to be, but that's GROSSLY exaggerated. 405 HP can be had in a Hyundai Genesis Sedan now, FYI.

I like the C5Z A LOT, but let's be honest.....they are still fast, but in stock form that percentage should be dropped to around 65%.

And anyone who says the C5Z is a nicer car than the C6Z is simply full of it. They are WORLDS apart in both price and performance. :nono:

A c5z is legitimately quick because it may only have 400 at the crank but it weighs less than 3150 lbs. So it has the power to weight advantage over most.

As I read OPs post, I couldnt help thinking it reads like a 16 year old who just lost their virginity to a 35 year old single mom with 2 kids, talking about how they prefer the older model since the new ones are probably too tight and would cause one to bust (the tires loose?) too easily. I say let him bask in the accomplishment lol

Agreed on power to weight. But I still think 95% is a huge exaggeration.

The C6Z, GT500, GT-R, Viper, lightly modded LS2 GTO, lightly modded 5.0, etc. will all be faster than a stock C5Z. Granted, you are talking more money though which is what makes the C5Z such a bargain. FOR THE PRICE, I think you can't go wrong.

However, the argument here was that, in stock form, it is still outrunning almost everything on the roads and that's just incorrect.

I actually liked the driving experience my C5 Z provided over my C6 Z. The C5 Z felt like a race car as you were driving it. Especially with the cam setup I had in mine. The C6 was more luxurious and smooth. Even though the C6 Z interior was nicer and more comfortable in every way possible, I still liked the C5 Z more.

Overall, obviously I liked the C6 Z more though and it's without a doubt a better car. I would definitely take a C6 Z over a C5 Z

For the money, it is hard to beat the performance and looks of a C5Z. The seats suck, but that is it. Overall, awesome cars.

Doubtful.

I'd say that 95% number is pretty spot on still. Not many people buy cars that can match a c5z let alone a base c6. A Genesis sedan may have power but it's not walking away from a c5z anytime soon nor is it going to even have a chance if a turn is involved.

If you thought a C5Z felt like a freighttrain... which.. it is a decent car... you should go test drive a 13-14 GT500. :coolman: :-D

Uhh...fixed.

OP, 405bhp isn't much these days. While the Z is faster stock for stock than a Boss, I'd take a Boss hands down. Its bad when a Mustang's interior is preferred over a Vette. Even if it is 11 years old.
