I would really like to see the different between a port matched 85mm Boss intake/TB with a 4.5-5" custom air intake to the CJ intake/mono blade with 4.5-5" air intake. Its really the ONLY way you can compare the gains of the INTAKE without other parts being changed. A max effort Boss intake setup to a max effort CJ setup. Id be willing to bet you would be within 10whp....advantage to the CJ of course. One guy on here also picked up 15whp over his 85mm tb/steeda air intake going to a ported boss manifold (to match the tb) and a 4.5 inch air intake. 5whp from port, 10whp from air intake. I believe I have another 15-20whp in my intake setup from filter to plenum.

Great power BTW!

I believe the boss can not be port matched to 85mm. It interfers with the oring. Someone has already tryed before I believe.

Everyone has said that the majority of the gains with the cj intake are the throttle body and cai.

Im actually going to be porting the intake to 85mm. Theres definately enough space to open it up to 85mm. 90mm...no... you would need to run a paper gasket and remove the o-ring. Im actually going to be trying this out. Like i said, i expect to see 15-20whp. And my friend owns his own personal dyno... so i get to make about 50 pulls before and after a single part swap to see if there are real gains and not just coolant/oil temp variance. Helps out a lot.

I really do like the fit and finish of that pbh CAI. Just wish it was not $600 bucks.

My JLT fits like crap using the 2010 version, filter touches the under side of the hood, intake tube does not fit right in the 2010 heat shield and the filter touches the drivers fender.

Yeah man, pbth is my shop and I just couldn't bing myself to spend that much on a tube especially considering how much everything else is on this build, hence why 01bluesnake (Drew) was the answer to the wait since frpp feels dragging their feet on their cj intake

The only thing im hopeing that they don't do is make it too small. Like 4.0 inch like my current JLT is. Hopefully they make it 4.5 inch throughout and a very nice heat shield.

The concept version that I have seen online looks dead on like the air raid for a 2010 and it looks small.

Now that the CJ manifold is out and becoming a popular Mod, I bet JLT, Steeda, and Airaid will be producing a CAI for the CJ manifold soon.

It would be nice to see if it is 5" and how it compares to the one I fabed up. At $600, thats just a little much. I can't see more than $350 between parts and labor being in that CAI. I will also have another version of mine hopefully being tested within a couple weeks and will have a lot bigger filter and can add a provision for a PCV tube although I don't ever recommend recirculating as oil degrades octane level when burned.

Hopefully they do testing and actually find out what size will make the most power.

Im looking forward to seeing what type of power yours makes on the other guys car. Any thought about making a heat shield for yours?

Here is a pic of what frpp is using. Its a cj 123maf with filter used on the gt500s an looks to be a 5in tube.

Allen that is not the FRPP CAI, the FRPP one that we are talking about is in the CJ intake manifold installation instructions. It looks like an air raid and I think says air raid on one of the couplers.
