I want to see a Hellion TT kit, complete, for my 2013 Boss for under $5000. On their website the kit is $7500 tuner/ $8500 complete, plus upgrades

We all want to hit the lottery too. However, if you factor in the price of 2 quality turbos with billet wheels, you are looking at $3500-$4000 ALONE just for 2 Turbos. Factor in the Intercooler, piping, Wastegates, Blow off valve, heat wrap, turbo blanket etc, it starts to add up.

Like Eric and others said, Turbos are not cheap. If you want to go fast on the cheap, Paxton it is.

I am not saying that a Paxton is more money than a turbo kit lol... i'm not that blinded, but a turbo kit ain't no $9k.
The standard kit, right off the WGs, will make over 600whp, same as a paxton at 10psi... so if all you want is 600whp you don't even need a boost controller, just get injectors and a bap (just like the S/C kits?) and you're good to go.

So if your twin kit sells for 7495
Id1000 injectors sell for 895
Maxflo programmable bap 469

Not that it matters just the hellion tuner kit was over my budget.

Turbo>everything else

/Thread

In all seriousness yall can argue all day.

Here are the facts

Paxton is the cheapest game in town (other then N2O)
Turbo makes more power on less boost (and more mid range)

Both will blow your stock engine.

there ya go!!!!

$469 sounds a lot more than what I would pay for a BAP. Also i have FIC1100cc that I paid way less than $900 for.. so turbo kit + some supporting mods = $8500.

All i'm saying is, the kit alone is not $9k like you stated.

He said $8859, and you're saying $8500...

I'm pretty sure $359 doesn't prove his theory wrong.

The turbo kits are quite a bit more than the S/C kits. Don't get me wrong, I do like turbos, I just also can understand someones point about the price being a factor for them.

He said that the kits cost $9k, which is not correct. That's all i'm pointing out.

When I said kit I meant complete like what I purchased not what a tuner kit cost.

Isn't the name of this thread "Paxton or Procharger"? So bringing up and defending turbo kits is a little off topic to begin with, isn't it?

Dtr you are kind of making my point for me. I know there is always someone faster. I know 4 cars in daytona beach that are faster than my camaro on the street and at the track. My point was if I want to run single digit 1/4 miles I already have a car setup for that. I am in no way saying an ls1 car can't be beaten or gm is better than ford. My plans for the mustang are different and I am on a budget that excludes a 9000 dollar turbo kit and I don't want to guinea pig an on3 kit with my dd. I want to make 600 to 650 hp on pump gas and drive the car to work.

Do you have selective reading? Above, in bold, is where the turbo was introduced to this conversation, and continued on up until this current post.

Oh, I get it. It's ok to talk about turbo's until a point starts being made against the turbo (price), and then it's "off topic". lol People are funny

Not really, we can argue over blower or turbos all day long, it doesn't bother me... but i don't think that's what the OP created this thread for.

You can't go wrong with any FI kit for the 5.0, I love my paxton and do not regret my decision at all. Was the install a tight fit, hell yeah, but it all fit and has work without issue for over 9k miles at 600+ whp.

I don't like the placement of the air filter on the procharger, but meth injection could solve the higher iat issue.

No question that tuebos are badass, I had a 98 gst back in the day and it was fun as hell.

The iat of the procharger is not because where they put the intake. Its the intercooler. With an intercooler the size of the one with the vortech kits the iat will be around the same as a paxton/vortech blower.

I thought it was a combination of both?
i thought i read somewhere, Beefcake said that the procharger kit, even with the upgraded intercooler, it had higher IATs than a paxton kit...

i could be wrong though.

Water/Meth is nice. I loved it when I was running 27* of timing at 25psi of boost on my srt4, but it is just another system to monitor. If you use it to make a bunch more power like I did, then a pump failure or pressure sensor failure would be catastrophic. I told myself I was just going to use it as a "safety measure", but once I had the power to spray a little more and bump the timing up for some great HP gains, I couldn't resist.

The change in IAT's alone would dissuade me against the procharger, but if there is proof that the procharger with a different intercooler would produce the IAT's of a paxton, then they should be fairly comprable... until you factor in price.

Guess it comes down to if you want to buy a procharger, and add more $$$ to get the IAT's down, or if you just want to buy a paxton and go. I haven't looked into the install of a procharger, but the reason I didn't get the paxton is the cutting and hacking of hoses, and the threads about the coolant/boost leaks at the junctions. I'm sure they can be fixed with better clamps and constant monitoring, but that's not what I wanted to do. I've had enough "boost leak testing" with my last car.
