Isn't Gabe having a built motor by Ironhand? Just recently had updated pics and was almost completed.

OP, if you got your car back why didn't you get all your other parts at that time? Hope it all works out for you.

It was a poor judgement call. The same poor judgement call I've been making over and over again with this guy, that he'll get it done. This last call to Fox Lake was the end.

I should have made this post months ago. Like I said, I didn't because I have a soft spot in my heart for a small business. But this is beyond what is acceptable, way beyond and its the only way there will be any resolution.

Maybe that means I get back half of the parts he had, fine Progressive can sort that out. Maybe that means shit gets done. But either way, this is the match that lights a fire.

Maybe it burns down his house of cards. Maybe it puts a fire under his ass. I don't know. But at least something is going to happen now. Even if nothing happens, that's enough for me to know I should be filing the claim and for Progressive to know it won't be resolved. At that point on his dealings will be with my insurance company and I can move on. I have much more important things to deal with than to be hounding somebody for months.

There always two sides to every story. Have only heard one side so far.

true story.

I'm just guessing here, but the other side might plausibly consist of

  • my girlfriend had head surgery
  • I was too busy building a computer, even though I didn't really have any money in which to do so...while actively collecting donations from a car website.
  • I am depressed
  • My shop was going out of business
  • I had to board my german shepherds for a few months.
  • but no wait guys....really, I was just kidding and I told everyone that to see how far the Planter would go with the thread.

Nickerz, that's not a poor judgement call. You gave the man the benefit of the doubt, and you did so earnestly and with much grace. It's natural for us to want to believe the best of people, instead of thinking the worst.

you've certainly done that and then some. So far I can't see anything you have to hang your head about.

I hope you get it resolved and everything gets taken care of.

Have you pm'd Ironhand and requested his presence in this thread?

I have been in contact with Cory almost every other day this week.
He has called me twice with updates and mentioned that the snow has slowed everything down. He also said he had your engine in the back of his truck en route to ship.

---------------------------update-------------------------------
just got word from Cory that your engine is shipped and should be at Fox Lake by Tuesday. It cost 374.00 to ship and the OP has only paid 160.
Cory says hes tied up right now working but will clear all this up when he gets a chance.
------------------------------------------------------------------

I trust Cory but I did give him as much time as he needed on my build. Given, there have been set backs but they seem legit.
As Chris (98 saleen cobra) said, i do give him the benefit of the doubt as he is a good guy and is trying to do whats right with the limited time he has.
I do think he got too busy for his own one man operation and then throw in all the personal stuff, weather, etc. its hard to juggle 3-4 engine builds (which all have their own problems with machining, suppliers, etc).

I read some of the "donation thread" & mostly what I got out of it is that this "Planter" dude is a big fat LOSER, with a bunch of time on his hands to investigate & call somebody out like that! That was terrible! Especially since he didn't even donate. You should be ashamed "Planter" but I'm sure your happy that you stirred a Hornets nest cause that's prolly how you get you satisfaction in life. Absolutely terrible!

Sorry to hear about your situation Nickerz. Hope we get a response from IronHand. I hate that for you & know how I would feel if this was my car. Hope it all works out for you & you get your car back on the road.

Spoke to Ironhand a few times on the phone, he helped me out while I was building my motor when I had questions. He was always friendly and seemed like an honest guy, curious to hear the other side of this story.

Well that seemed to do the trick. I'll update when I hear from Fox Lake.

As for the the difference in shipping costs, that's what happens when you need it next week because you're months past due. It was paid after he scheduled a pickup he was unprepared for a while ago.

I hope he's not going to claim that the motor was shipping today by shear coincidence. But I can feel that angle being played already.

Also weather? I live 2 hours from him. Shit was not that bad. Use it as an excuse or shut down church bad. Not close school or can't drive bad.

Glad it got shipped out.

As others have said, in cory's defense, he is very knowledgeable and always seems to be offering free advice.

Maybe he is a horrible procrastinator like myself
