Power band on the 5.0 is no joke they pull forever with a boss mani.. Don't let there tq fool ya ;-) They also have a badass tranny that coupled with 3.73s makes that tq gap that much less of a advantage.

LOL, I guess they keep pulling like a freight train after 130mph.:shrug:

A bolt-on 5.0 can't run down a stock CTS-V2.

Sounds like a jealous 4.6 owner. Too bad pound-for-pound of boost puts you at the losing end of a race. 75rwhp. He just needs some boltons and cams. 450-460rwhp is just on motor for a 5.0.

You sound like an idiot.

Did your car make 407 RWHP stock, because you don't list any aftermarket mods other than factory 3.73's.

I'm glad that a car that is 6 years newer, with a VERY HIGH COMPRESSION MOTOR and a larger Motor makes more power than my 6 year old 3V car.

Ford did it right with the 5.0.

That was a well throught out comment. How many stock bottom end GTs are running around with 20 pounds of boost like Cobras? You're comparing a N/A setup to a FI setup. If I remember correctly, I don't think I usually see these 10th grader type responses from you.:rollseyes

what can i say? maybe not the best response, but lumping coyote's into a bunch isnt much better. i built a 4.6 4v for the 96 for a reason. i wouldnt say a pullied 03-04 is a fair comparison to 'teach a lesson" to a coyote.

For the simple fact that a Minor bolt-on 5.0 making a bit over 400 RWHP can pull an 03 Cobra making 450+ RWHP and put multiple car lengths on one.

At least, that's what the 5.0 owners keep saying.

a good race would be a bolton, cammed coyote versus a pullied terminator. similar power. and for the record blown coyote's have handled 700rwhp...about the same power a screwed 20psi terminator.

Why argue boost for boost. I wouldn't care if a cobra could make more boost then my 5.0 if my 5.0 was making more hp at 15psi vs. a cobra at 20psi.

Just read through this entire thread.....your post could have said this and still be just as accurate:

Everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath. Stock 03/04 Cobra's are running similar times as stock 11+ 5.0's. go figure...similar HP numbers, Cobra TQ advantage is balanced out by it's heavier weight.

So why is it such a surprise that "bolt on" 5.0's are running similar times to "bolt on (yes...smaller pulleys are bolt ons to the cobra)" cobras?

This thread is not about 5.0 vs 03/04 Cobras....it's about boneheads taking the pride they have in whatever they own and misdirecting it other mustang drivers instead of the true competition!

Btw...back when I had my Cobra my best time was 11.7@117 with stock weight, 426 rwhp and ET Streets. :) Geez i miss that car!

The funny thing is the Cobra and the 5.0 are such killers that they have decimated the competition.

So we are forced into cannibalism. Lol

It's a great time to be a mustang guy.

Well... Except that Ford keeps announcing unbelievably great new mustangs that some of us can't buy fast enough. '13 GT500 anyone?

Even the ZL1 is toast from the factory. So it's going to be the Boss guys vs the Shelby guys. Lol

are you sure about that? everything i have seen is that a 2011+ 5.0 coupe is about the same weight as a terminator coupe.

i don't have the numbers in front of me, but i thought they were both around 3600-3700 lbs

Why argue boost for boost. I wouldn't care if a cobra could make more boost then my 5.0 if my 5.0 was making more hp at 15psi vs. a cobra at 20psi.

That was my point. He was saying how the 5.0s will make more HP on the same PSI. That is true, but I'm not sure what point he is trying to make. Is he trying to say that means its a better car or a better motor? You can turn up the boost on a cobra to 20+ PSI. What are the 5.0s safely limited to? maybe around 10 PSI on bottom end?

Either way, as I said before.... Both cars have smiliar performance out of the box. A CAI, tune, exhaust 5.0 would be a good run for a CAI, tune, exhaust Cobra. Beyond that, the cobra has the edge because of the supercharger and the built bottom end (assuming you are using similiar budgets on both cars).
