Fast as hell up to 155 and then it completely falls on it's face. Wierd to watch it still accelerating so hard at 150 then boom, cooked at 160.

Looks like it took about 20 seconds to reach 150, then took ~45 seconds total to reach 190.

Wish I had a FGT to be able to say what you just did. :rockon:

I do not own a FGT so I cannot speak from experience, but from what I've read from DBK and seen in videos, the FGT has a monsterous top end. Especially with ANY type of intake or exhaust mods.

Heheh...the GT is ridiculous, it just keeps PULLING, one of the most impressive things about driving it.

When I shift into 5th gear, my Mustang GT just takes a shit compared to these cars.

I'd love to have a new Z. I saw one in person at the expo near my house a month ago, and my girlfriend had to friggin' drag me away from it. I couldn't stop looking it over. Very muscular car with awesome lines.

After 160 the GT is significantly faster because 5th gear in the Z06 doesn't lend itself to accelerating. 5th and 6th in Corvettes are always gas gears to avoid the guzzler tax.

Z06 beats GT to 124mph 11.9 to 12.0
GT beats Z06 to 186mph 33.6 to 41.8

P.S, as you can see the Viper NEVER gets there in this test. Pretty amazing. And look how ****ing fast the Veyron is. It makes all the other cars look like toys. This Z06 on video, which shows a car that's extremely fast to 190 by any objective standard takes more than double the time to hit 186 mph. Holy ****ing christ. You can really see how the gearing kills the Z06 on the big end because the significantly slower 997TT actually catches up and ends up hitting 186 faster. That's "euro" gearing, which the GT definitely has...

Actually they have absolutely identical acceleration until 155mph

Then the Ford GT takes off. But who races faster than 155mph!? The Ferrari and the Lamborghini also impressed me:coolman: . Of course the Veyron smoked all of them.:bowdown: :bowdown: :bowdown:

Here is the whole article, but the numbers are the only thing I can read, nice pics though.

I won't believe those Ferrari numbers until I experience it firsthand. Something is definitely amiss because it crushes the LP640, but the LP640 has a significant power-to-weight advantage and is AWD. Those 599 numbers are Enzo-esque.

599 = 611/448 @ 3722lbs
LP640 = 640/486 @ 3671lbs

So not only more power, more torque, less weight, and AWD. Yet it gets crushed in a straight line? And the LP640 is actually falling further back the higher the speeds get? Think of how big a 2 second gap is at 186 mph. :shrug: Hmmmmmmm......

Normally I wouldn't call shady except that Ferrari sent an engineering entire team to do the testing, with it's own driver, with a car equipped with Euro-spec only launch control. Every other car just showed up. The ten Ferrari dudes milling around the 599 seemed a little suspicious.

Oh DBK, you posted 6 min faster than me lol.
But yeah the numbers for the Ferrari seem very high! and the whole engineering team was there? ok maybe nos?! LOL. It looked like it was a litle wet also that's why the Veyron wasn't as fast as expected. I like the Lambo better anyway.

Yeah, no ****ing way I take a 599 over an LP640. The 599 is way too ugly to pay 100k OVER list. :eek: No doubt it's a crazy performance machine, but it's pretty forgettable looks wise.

I did not expect it to slow so much after 150. That is a big surprise. I guess it does not have the right gearing or something to take advantage of the power cause it is not a lack of aerodynamics. I could be wrong. I would still like to have one.

I'm sure the ailing 160-190 mph numbers would come on much sweeter with the addition of kooks headers a better cam and a nice retune. Not to mention the 0-130 would come along in upper 10 second range.

That is one slow ass Z06. Mine is much quicker and it is bone stock (Maybe because it didn't have a passenger and the AC on)

Here is the link:

A Z06 and a FGT are neck and neck to 162 mph, and from both of my experiences, the slight edge goes to the Z06. Not sure what happens after that, nor do I care as I wont be racing 160+ on freeways anytime soon.

But, the GT does have a higher top speed, so it is the faster car.
