"It shows signs of severe heat soak"
"It was probably slipping due to TOB out of adjustment on fingers (in contact)"
"I looked at your pictures and as bad as they are the only thing you ruined was the pressure plate"
"It takes 550 F degrees to break the bond in the Raybestos adhesive we use to secure the clutch faces"
"$120 for new pressure plate"
"$50 for new heat shield" (flywheel contact surface)
"$44 for new TOB"
"No-charge for new clutch plates" (4 sides) (they will drill out the rivets and reface them)
"No-charge blanchard grind the center spacer"
"We'll fix it"

I am happy I guess. Not at all what I was expecting.
So, off it goes tomorrow for a complete freshening. $220 something sure sounds better than buying a new DFX right now. We'll see how it turns out.

Also got a couple tips from George, their tech guy.

High Hi RPM Sidestep is the preferred launch for this clutch.

1-3 rotations of the tires at launch is the fastest/best setup.

You want this to engage in bottom half of the clutch pedal stroke.

nice pics :coolman:

I think you need a new setup....maybe an unobtainium flywheel with kryptonite disks and a nuclear pressure plate

good luck getting it to work "just off the floor"

imo cut your losses and move on it sucks balls taking that trans in and out in and out just for. the mcloed clutch. sure it works but its only going to work for so long then it needs readjust so plan on that every 2000 miles. its to touchy

my 2 cents

not sure if this would be an issue or not, but the mcleod retainer sleeve fits every clutch but their own. assume you modified it to fit or maybe my info is wrong.

one more choice.. pay for the new clutch setup, sell it on the market for twice the money, and then your back on par.. halfway to a new dfx or similar setup.

i'd say that you wouldn't want go through the hastle of dropping the trans again if this one didn't hold the power, but then i remembered that pulling a T-56 is like changing a CAI for you
