Why me:shrug: I can't get the log file loaded to the Xcal. I got though all of these steps

When not connected to a vehicle, you will get this message, press OK

After you Press OK, Type in the first 5 characters of the "Get Strategy" from your XCal2 into this box.

For Example, when used on a 2004 Cobra AMZ2 code, The Get strategy results are: FBGI0C6 so you would type in FBGI0

From this menu, you can select the On device parameters you want to log. Put a check box in the sub categories you wish to datalog.

Note: Lowercase values are PID’s which are slower responding than DMRs.

Uppercase values are DMR’s which update faster, but you can only log 15 of them, and they are processor specific.

The Above shows how to select the MAF_COUNTS

You can select up to 20 parameters for the on device configuration menu, If you have more than 20 parameters selected, you will get an error message.

After pressing OK, then go to the File menu and choose Add LiveLog File to Device

Here you choose your Processor type, and type in a file name for the file, and the File Description. If you cannot connect the device to a vehicle, you will need to manually choose the Processor Type.

A list of common processor types are:

Processor Type
Vehicles

88k EEC V
1994-1995 V6 (3.8) Mustangs

112k EEC V
1996-1997 Mustangs

216k EECV

216k EECV

1472k Black Oak SCP
SVT Focus

1472k Black Oak CAN
2005 -2006 F-150, 2004 4.6 F-150, 2004 5.4 F-150

1024k Spanish Oak
2005-2006 Mustangs, 2005 F-250, 2005 F-Series V10

1024k PTEC
Lincoln LS, Late model T-Bird. Explorer

448k Black Oak
2003-2004 6.0 Diesel F-Series

512 Black Oak
2005-2006 6.0 Diesel F-Series

After choosing the file name, Press OK to program the XCal2 with the data logging file.

When I click ok it says Open device failed. Then I get System.NullReferenceException: Object Reference not set to an instance of a object. At SCTXCAL2Livelink.Xcal2Livelink.menufilecreateDLF_[Object sender, EventARGS e]

What am I screwing up now??????

Update. Tried everything under the sun and no luck. Got home early today and called SCT. Tried a bunch of stuff nothing worked. The tech said plug the cable into a different USB port and it worked. I didn't know whether to yell or cry. All that mess because of a bad port.

I was going to say it sounded like a port problem. I know with Vista I have to choose which port the Xcal is plugged into when I open Livelink.
