xcal 3 question

I have a used xcal3 i bought . i plugged it in and it found return to stock option. Does that mean my car had a previous tune in it?? I bought the car from a used dealer so thats why i dont know. I just about finished my 2.3 whipple install. It it is true about the tune would i be better off using return to stock option and driving it to tuner? or just leave whats in there and have the tuner figure it out and work their magic??

It sounds like the tuner is still locked to a car. Did the person you bought it from tell you it was unlocked?
