Anyone ever had the ring with the teeth for the starter pop off the flywheel??
The other day i was riding along and it sounded like someone threw rocks in the bell housing. I though the tob or retainer sleeve came apart but it still shifted fine. I finally got it home, the next morning i go to leave and turn the key and it sounds like the starter wasnt engaging. So today i pulled the starter and found i could spin the ring with the teeth on the flywheel with my hand like a hoola hoop. Wtf? The only thing i can figure is the starter didnt disengage properly and spun with the flywheel until i got hot enough then popped the ring off the flywheel? The teeth on the starter where a little nawed up and blue from heat. :shrug::??::dw: Also whats a good flywheel to get im pretty sure im going to stay with aluminum.
