If you're into the backstory of games as much as the games themselves, this is a pretty cool book. Got it delivered this morning and Blizzard really put some work into it.

There are some novels out.. the best I think are written by Christie Golden. Im assuming this is more of a chronological writing rather than a story?
Yes, it goes pretty deep into Azeroth's history. Along with the text, there's some pretty amazing artwork throughout. Christie Golden actually contributed to this book.

Volume 1 was just produced. It's been implied there will be others. I haven't had a chance to read all the way through the book yet, so I'm not sure what the time span is for the first book.
One thing Blizzard excels at is their artwork; their music, conceptual art, and stories are second to none. Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft all have great lore and have inspired great stories in each of the respective universes.
