Windage Tray issue

Picking up my Teksid block and rotating assembly tomorrow following light machining and balancing.
The rebuild includes new forged 2618-T61 aluminum alloy pistons and forged steel H-beam rods. Along with a stud girdle to tie all the main caps together.
Unfortunately the windage tray will no longer fit.
The manufacturer claims it won’t be needed.
Never the less I’m uncomfortable running the engine without a WT. Ford would not have included it if unnecessary. So I’m hoping the fine folks at SVTP can offer some solutions.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I understand your trepidation on not running the tray, windage can become an issue for high-revving engines. Will it physically no longer fit with the rotating assembly and main girdle?

Not sure on your specific application with the stud girdle if this would work, but Canton makes a nice, full length windage tray that doesn't require fastening to the main caps. They're fairly inexpensive but can be a bit of a pain to seal as they sandwich between the block and the oil pan (you're either looking at a ton of RTV or using two gaskets).

Thanks for your response. The SG and WT fit perfectly with no clearance issues when installed by themselves. But they interfere with each other when trying to install them both.

I’ve read that even the Teksid aluminum alloy blocks can suffer from fretting and cap walk at power levels above 600 HP. So a SG seemed like a reasonable approach to help mitigate the problem.

Thanks for the info. I’ll check into it.
