I have a 93 cobra with you basic bolt-ons. I was thinking of swapping to an e-303 cam. Will it work with the 1.72 rockers? Will I need new valve springs? Anyone running an aftermarket cam in there cars?
E cam will work, but ALWAYS check your p to v clearance to be sure. I would also recommend new valve springs - stockers aren't the strongest in the world, and there have been a few reports of failures on stock cars (buddy of mine had 3 that were collapsed when he had his heads ported at 30k miles).
My opinion is to go with the Crower 15511 and the motorsport valve springs(Or any for that matter). A friend of mine has a 93 Cobra and he too had valve springs fail. My .02
I'm currently running the E303 cam in my 93 cobra. I replaced the valve springs with a set of trick flows from summit. I'd also go ahead and pick up an idle adjustment plate to go along with it so it won't be stalling on you once you've changed the cam. they are cheap and well worth it.
