I wouldn't run anything larger than a 255 MT on an 8"
if you run something big on an 8 inch rim your basically defeating the purpous, the tire will start to cup and youll be laying down a smaller patch than you would with a smaller tire
maybe its crowning i forgot

Ok. Would it be better to run my street tires or go with the 275 MT's on and 8 in? Those are my 2 options.
Is the car a daily driver, or does it only come out on nice days? If it sits in the garage most of the time, go with DRs, but if you drive it every day, well, do a search for wrecked cobra drs. Those 3 terms (maybe two, since DRs might not work) will pull up so many threads where people wrecked in the rain on drag radials that your head will spin.
I'm just putting on the DR's to go to the track for saturday, then I;m putting my T1s's back on
If its literally just to go to the track you're probably still better off with the DR's, just keep in mind you're not getting a full contact patch out of them.
Well, I went to the track and snapped my axle shaft with the DR's
