I would stay with a 245/45/17 that is the correct tire for a 17x8, people have done a 275 nitto on stock rim, but I would not recommed it, I work at Auto & Tire Shop, plus they will wear funny in middle and handing would not be good
The 255/45/17 or 255/40/17 Goodyear GSD3 will fit just fine. My brother has these on the front. He has 275/40/17 GSD3's on the rear with the stock rim and that has a bit of bulge. They were pretty tough to get on the rim I watched them at the tire shop. The 275 GSD3 is a wide tire and pretty much the limit I would try, it honestly should be on a 8.5 or 9" rim. It will work and doesn't look bad.
I have ran 275/40's Nitto Drags on my car pretty much the entire time I have owned it. I love the way it looks. The Nittos run a little small so its not as bad as other brands.
