I am going to get some FR500 10.5in, and i want to put 335/40/17 tires on them. The question i have is what do i have to do to fit those big of tires in my 1999 cobra? Spacer? new IRS bolt? Rolled fenders, just need some help.

ive never seen 335/40/17s but there are 335/35/17s there which are close to stock size. Anyway, you will need some sort of spacer (im guessing 1/2) and MM Round Head IRS Bolts, and rolled fenders. There was one person on here who got them w/o modifications, but every cobra is a little different and he got lucky. Another choice is a 315/35/17 which is the same exact diameter as factory so your speedo wont be off, and the Sumitomo 315/35s are about 100 a piece and are decent tires.

Thanks my bad they are 335/35 also those IRS bolts are the smooth round ones right? Also do you know how much rolling your fenders usually cost? With 17in wheels your speedo wouldnt be off would it? thanks

no the car comes stock with 17" wheels

Wheel size doesnt play the factor in speedo being incorrect. It is the overall diameter of the tires. If you want to get 18s and keep the speedo the same you need a shorter sidewall

you know.. a good 295/305/415 drag radial will hook better than those pilots, and not weigh as much, tey may look good but i think 315 is good enough, ive got 315 goodyear gsd3's and ate them i wish i would have bought 4 nittos instead of these two expensive pos's

There is an increasing loss of returns when it comes to tire size. Bigger isnt always better, things like rotational mass come into play. What kind of HP are you putting down, Id guess somewhere in the 600+ range to be needing a 335 series tire out back?

I'm with you. There is a point of diminising returns when it comes to tire size. I am thinking 315's on my cobra are as big as they ever need to get and I have been thinking of downsizing to a 295 with the same tire.

kind of a waste of money, but I agree they do look good.

Im waiting for nitto to make a 335 drag radial so I can finally fill out the back.

Well their 335/30/18 is actually on par with normal 335 tires. What I don't get is that their 315/35/17 is over an inch smaller then the BFG and Goodyear 315s...

Anyways, I am trying to get them to make a 335/35/17 DR that is on scale with the current 315 so it is around 12.5-12.75 inches wide when placed on a 10.5" wheel. I should have an email response from him by tomorrow giving me an update to all this. :D
