It is because most the general public doesn't know the difference between a noisy alternator and a supercharger. That public has fat wads of cash or credit to give to anyone willing to sell them something they think is cool or makes other people who don't know better envy them. Why by a aston martin vantage when a modded termy can whip its ass all day long. But to the hot chick at the light the termy looks like a V6 rental car and the aston martin looks like a exotic car. I guaranttee the Shelby GT-350 probably gets more attention in a car lot then most cars twice its money. Because anybody over the age of 35 remembers the '66 Shelby GT-350 and it stands for performance. Anybody under doesn't even know what a 66 shelby GT-350 was. Since most of america can't buy or even build a replica '66 GT-350. They buy somthing that is simular, drives and rides better. It is like the bullitt, it cost more because what it represents. You want real travisty, how about all the dealers selling GT500 look alikes that were just Mustang GT's. Title is mustang GT. A dealer here Skillman was doing this and selling them for $40k, How would you like to be that sucker now. Since you can buy a low mileage real GT500 for less then that. Your kit bodied mustang GT is worth less then $18k five years later.
