Why do the KB 2.2's seem low on torque...?

The bulk of Terminator 2.2's i see have low (relatively speaking, of course)torque numbers, especially when compared to either a 2.3 Whipple or 2.6 KB. The hp#'s seem about right, but the tq numbers always seem on the low end.

I have a 2.2 that puts down 550rwhp on a very conservative tune (almost a daily driver), yet it only puts down 510rwtq. Any thoughts/suggestions?

That doesn't seem far off what I would expect from a Whipple or a KB 2.6 at 550 RWHP. evil04svtcobra's torque number is 90% of his horsepower. At 550/510, your about 92%. It also depends a lot on the rest of your setup - exhaust, headers, x-pipe, CAI, boost, etc.

Don't get me wrong, i absolutely LOVE the sound and power of my little 'ol 2.2, i was just curious if i was the only who thought the torque on the 2.2's seemed a little low.

Thats just yours. I have seen many many many 17-19psi 2.2Ls putting down 600+rwhp and 580+rwtq. Not sure why yours is low. Also the 2.2L are old technology and create more heat than the new 2.3L and 2.6L and 2.8L.

Ive always noticed this as well, mainly the reason I went with the whipple. The 2.2's always seem to be in the low 500's.

620/600 here.

You said it yourself..."on a very conservative tune". That's the "problem" right there IMO.

unit is right, your tune is too soft. Crank the timing and run a little Torco and you'll have the numbers you're looking for.
