Being in the military I moved to Guam which is a really warm climate. Temperatures are 80-100 degrees all year long. I brought the daily driver with me, which is a 2001 Ford Explorer. Ive always ran 5W-20 in it. Since that is what it says in the manual. But the manual doesnt tell you if you need to go heavier for warm climates or not. Is 5W-20 too thin for weather this hot? Should I move up to a 30, or stick with what I am using now?

I'd honestly say your doing just fine at 5w-20. If your worried about heating problems you can also change your thermostat out.

Keep 5/20 in it. Ford doesn't have any other rec. like they used to depending on climate. I live in S. Louisiana and it routinely is 80-100, Spring-Fall, and I use 5/20 Mobil 1(formerly 0/20 mobil 1) in my Lightning, Cobra, and the wifes Escape.
