Thought I'd ask the experts, I took out a 94-98? Cobra vert. last night ( At least he went down swingin', better than the rice I raced later on ) It had the snake on the side, five hole rims, the nostrils on the hood. and SVT enblem on the back. Friend said it was a 94-95 as later models had "Cobra" written in the plastic molding on the rear. Don't realy know ( didn't see that part :) ) He also, said 94-95 aren't as quick as later model 96-98 ? Is my friend right ?

Probably a 95. I believe the 94s didn't have the svt on the back. If so, its the 302 Cobra, which 95 was the last year, and not as quick as the 4.6 4V.

Well you raced a '96-'97 Cobra then (4.6 305 hp).

The "COBRA" lettered bumpers started in '96. The "SVT" badging started in '95. The "nostril" hoods are '96-'98's ('94-'95 had same hoods as GT's and base Stangs). The 5-hole rims stared in '94, and changed a little in '96 as they made the insides a charcole color (same as the '94 pace car).

In '94 the only verts were pace cars (1000 produced) and no owner in his right mind would put a '96-'98 hood on and an SVT bagde on it (didn't come with them in '94). They are usually left BONE stock for collector value (240 rated hp 5.0).

In '95 the only verts were 499 2-tops, and 501 non-2-tops... all black with saddle leather interior. These are also usually left stock for collector value (240 rated hp 5.0).

In '98 the Cobra's came factory with the Cobra R look-a-like 5-star SVT rims (17x8 v.s. the R's 17x9).

The '96-'98 tail lights were 3 verticle bars as opposed to the '94-'95 having 3 horizontal bars.

I'm betting it was a '96-'97.

The nostril hood was on the 94 Cobra IN FACT. view my website to have proof(1994 Indy 500 Pace Car, my fathers, yes i'm 16) and it is supercharged (Vortech S trim).

Nope... sorry. The '94-'95 hoods on EVERY model were the same. I'll look at the site later, but all that I posted was from what I already knew... and more is to be learned (better get one of these) from the SVT Mustang Cobra recognition guide.

I was agreeing with the fact that the 5.0 Cobra's were not as fast as the 4.6's..... SVT God is right, al 94-95 had the same hood, which did not have the larger nostrils (96-98). And the 96-98 had the "CObra" embossment on the rear bumper.....

94-95 did not have forward flared nostril hoods, i have an official picture of 94 pace car, and it has the regular hood same as the other 94-95.
