Im wondering how late mine was built. Mine has a build date of 06/99. Also how much of these cars were built by ford and how much by svt? meaning how far down the normal mustang assembly line did they make it.

You can purchase an SVT certificate from Ford to get your build number.
Anyway 04/12/1999 #1493 of 4040 Mustang Cobra Coups.

Mine was "fixed" at the assembly plant

base coupe 73180
base conv 19299
GT coup 19634
GT conv 13699
Cobra coup 4040
cobra conv 4055

total: 133637

Supposedly Your last 6 vin numbers tell you where your car was built in the assembly line..somehow.....the consecutive unit number....
maybe by subtracting the 1998 years total build amount numbers which was 175522 from your Vin unit number?? dunno for sure.

40 bucks? What a rip... you think I would get it for free buying a $30,000 car.

My understanding is that if you bought the car new, you were supposed to get it.

Mine was built on 6-9-99 and is #3371 out of 4040.

When I called SVT to get the certificate, they told me the fix was done in August of 1999.

I just googled SVTs number and gave em a call. just have the last 6 digits of your vin ready and they will tell you the production number of your car. its 40 bucks for the certificate... which has the build date number info about your car and what not. I got my production number and was happy with that. hope this helps!

good info..it's my understanding that, in the past, they were witholding that production number from folks.

Really wish I could find the original owner..so I could get the certificate signed by coletti..
