when to go 3" exhaust

At what point do these cars need 3" exhaust? I've got a bunch of mods planned down the road and just wondering what the threshold of the 2 1/2" is...

I would say any car over 600 would benefit some from it. I picked up a good amount of power with bigger headers and 3" exhaust

Ive seen these cars make good power on 3" exhaust (Almo) and others lose power and ET (sonic03snake) swapping over to it. 99% of people run 2.5" with no issues...I would stick with that unless your making some serious power.

A 3" exhaust is way too big for a little 4.6 and will lower the exhaust velocity and hurt scavenging especially at low and mid-range. A 3" would make more sense on a 5.4.
