When to change to Synthetic with new engine

I have used the search function and read for an hour. So much difference of opinion on this one. I guess the real crucial time is the first 40-100 miles but 1500 also seems to be a milestone. I have 2400 miles on the new built Cobra Engine. Is it time to go synthetic ?

Best Synthetic. I have used Royal Purple for 2 years but German Castrol gets lots of "good press" in the search function with high RPM engines.
