I thought I understood. Now I'm just confused.

What is backspacing?

What is offset?

Backspacing - measured this way. If you run a straight edge on the back side of the rim on the outer edge..........then from the straight edge, run a tape measure down to the flat mounting surface (flange )where it bolts to your axle . Where they meet, that distance is your backspacing.
