Looking to replace a 200k mile clutch cable. I'm pretty sure it's stretched beyond the factory ratchet system or whatever it's called. What's the go to setup? It's a stock car and just a cruiser so I really don't need anything overly complicated.

Factory cable for sure. Just gotta find one. Think MM makes one or something.

Adjustable are problematic.

I’d say if you can find a factory cable that would be my go to. I did a steeda cable I believe. It’s harder to push down than my will to live.

I found out the hard way that cable should be lubed again,

I had a issue with hard to push pedal,
Changed cable and still had issue.
Google search and seen many lube cable,

I pulled cable off. Ran wd40 into it.

Installed cable. Pedal was honda easy to push ..

Maximum is definitely the way to go. When they have them that is...

The Maximum Motorsports one is definitely the go to since you can't OEM anymore, but they've been unavailable for some time.

I'm pretty sure all the other adjustable cables - Ford Racing, Steeda, etc. - all came from the same Chinese factory. They seem to be hit or miss - some people have them break fairly quickly, some don't. The Ford Racing one held up for 15 years in my 65 cobra before I replaced it ... but it only had ~3,000 miles.

I talked to Chuck, the owner at MM a few years ago about all of this. They were (and I believe still are) using the original supplier to Ford for their cables. So while MM has augmented original Ford cable systems with their own added improvements, you are getting the OE style cable and sheathing that the rest of the aftermarket isn't providing.
