I recently hurt my 03 cobra motor. Was running perfectly fine still but was making a loud metal on metal ticking noise. I had a mechanic pull the motor out and pull the heads and he said the heads looked good besides the cams being pretty worn. When he looked at the pistons on the number 7 cylinder it looked like the piston had contacted the head and on the #5 cylinder there were some divits on the piston as well as the head.
I had recently bought some rebuilt heads anticipating it was gonna be lifters or valve guides and I think i'm just gonna buy a short block to get my car back up asap. Anyone have any idea what I should ask if I sell the complete short block and fully assembled heads? I have looked around and can only find people selling rebuilt/newish stuff so hard to get an idea.
Here are pics of the piston damage
