Looking for another dd. Was thinking about a 6th or 7th gen civic but they seem hard to come by for one that isn't riced out or a total pile of shit.

Found this one but that price seems really steep for a near 20 year old car that is prone to pop a head gasket at any time

I wouldn't go past a 01. I know I've heard they "changed" after they switched to the new body style. My 2000 EX was just totalled. They cut me a check for $3,6XX. I would have possibly hunted for another, but that was my 4th one, and it was an epic POS that left a bad taste in my mouth...so I said **** it and bought a 2017 Fiesta ST.

In terms of the civics though, I loved them. Cheap, easy to work on, and easy to replace.

Via 12 years:

Civic #1, 97 EX: Paid $4,200, drove it 80K miles, blew the engine, sold it for $900.
Civic #2, 98 EX: Paid $3,200, drove 8 months, hit a deer, got $3,600
Civic #3, 99 DX: Paid $4,700, drove 5 years/90K miles, stolen, got $3,300
Civic #4, 00 EX: Paid $3,100, drove 14 months, 6 car pile up, got $3,600.

Honestly, I'd stick to a 1999-2000 Civic as the '00-05 had varying issues. Still good cars, but the potential to be a headache is evermore present.

Also, I say '99-00 because they simply look better than the '96-98 cars, but overall they're the exact same thing otherwise.

Yeah I was reading about the head gasket issues the d series suffer from.

Mainly wanting something reliable, good on gas, manual trans, easy/cheap to work on. So doesn't necessarily have to be a civic. My jeep is getting old enough and high on the miles that it's starting to nickel and dime me to death
