what retainers to go with

im upgrading to the boss 302 valve springs and im curious as to which retainers would be best. also would stock retainers be fine to use? thanks!

Stock is fine for those. They're not much tighter than the oem springs

How long did it take u guys to change springs on the car, and what tool did u use?

following Blazers guide in the how to section for oil pump gears, I would plan two 8 hr days to be safe. I used the Freedom Racing Coyote Spring compressor and a compression checker adapter to air up the cylinder so the valve wouldn't drop.

I measured and shimmed each valve so I spent about 5 hours just on the springs. I rent the tools to do it also if you need them.

We agree, even if it is a upgrade to the chromoly retainers, its alot of work to put a stock retainer back on, especially when the idea is to improve performance.
