run someones plate? I was leaving a 7-11 today waiting to turn onto the main road, while I was sitting there 2 police cars turn into the parking lot and they both gave me the stare down. I was doing nothing wrong, I had the windows down the stereo down and was just sitting there. As soon as traffic cleared I left then looked in my rear view and saw that the 2 police cars made a u turn and started to follow me. I was at the light and saw the police officer behind me running my plate. Then they proceded to follow me for about 2 miles before turning off.

Just wanted to know what I was doing wrong, for them to run my plate.

This has been covered numerous times. The search feature is truly your friend. There are many plausible reasons, such as a BOLO or a suspicious person or vehicle complaint.

Let's see...if she was cute blond, 5'6"..slim, short skirt, smiled and waived "hello" and said "I'm new around here and love officers"......Yup I'd run her tag....Oops...dozed off here...

when i went on my ridealong with a cop he told me they just run everyones plate and hopefully they get lucky that something comes up with it
