What is this thing??

My guess would be something for an aftermarket alarm.
Part of alarm system added to car
I had the main box just go bad and now don’t have it.
No clue how it worked and also have button.
But I now notice what system did do
Like before I had to unlock door to start car
After a short time before after unlocking car if you didn’t start it alarm would reset and key did nothing until you unlock car with fob
Couldn’t leave car with door unlocked and not have alarm trigger getting in
Now without box open door and start
Box on mine was just above fuse box zip tied to wiring harnesses
When it went bad it caused a no crank and would click like a flasher

Man, I have the same exact issue with my f250, but only with the extra key fob that I “linked”. Once in a awhile the other key fob will do it, pisses me off to say the least. I should rip it out, but the remote start feature is nice.
OP that’s what it is, the push button is for resetting, programming fobs.
Wife GPSed your car to track you and find out what you're really up to.
