What is the sensor in the radiator shroud?

Charging my A/C with ES12a and noticed the sensor just under the intercooler tank is broken. Looks like a green barrel shaped thing that snaps into the radiator shroud. Mine is broken but I cant find what it is.

Low speed fan resistor. You need to replace it ASAP or your fan will not work properly.

Thanks! I cant seem to find it in the local autopart stores... is it a dealer only item?
