I am just wondering what is the maximum cylinder bore on my 2001 cobra engine? It is the teksid block. A couple month back I took the engine to get rebuilt. They fully rebuilt it and bored it .020 over. I ended up having some problems after the rebuild. Come to find out the oil rings on 2 cylinders scratched up the walls pretty good due to not being installing correctly. So they now bored it .060 over and put oversized pistons. Is this a safe bore or will this cause problems? Thanks

Honestly you will hear people say its bad, some its fine, but until i have proven facts cylinder boring is unsafe, i will do so. A Teksid is a very strong block, my plan was to go .030 over, but the project got parted as the cars getting sold. .060 to me is a bit much, i would stick to no more than .040 on a aluminum block.

Here is some good info in a thread pertaining to bore size.

In his book "How to build max performance 4.6L Ford engines", Sean Hyland doesn't recommend boring over 0.040" oversize. The book suggests resleeving the cylinders if they are that damaged.

Yea boring it .060 out is fine if they removed the sleeves and bored the block to accept thicker ones :nonono:
