Marilyn Manson on the Mechanical Animals tour in Peoria, IL. There was a MASSIVE blizzard that hit. The midwest can handle snow. No, this was the type where even banks and malls close the the highway patrol ask the public to not use the highways. I called the arena and they said the band got in last night and the show will go on. So I left my house in a 1988 LX 2.3 hatchback with shitty tires at about noon for a 7pm show. It was a 90 mile drive. It took me about 3+ hours. Often times I couldn't see the semi I was following 30 feet behind, while doing 30mph down the middle of two lanes. A few trucks passed me, and I later say 3 of them in the ditch. Anyway the show did go on, for maybe 200 people. It was almost like a private showing. I've seen Manson several times since, and he doesn't have the same energy, the same voice, etc. That's life. Rock stars don't age well. Manson ended up canceling the next 2 shows I believe as the band couldn't get out of Peoria. My mom wouldn't dare let me drive home in those conditions so she phones me a room at the Holiday Inn. School ended up getting canceled the next day too, so I didn't miss anything. I'm still 1% angry my mom wouldn't let me drive to Woodstock 99. I mean I had my license a couple months. Drugs, fires, riots, nudity...that was one insane concert. :(
