So i picked up this rust bucket last week. started tearing it down. will be making a build thread soon. Anyways wondering if someone could tell me what rear end this is. They are crappy phone pics but you guys are smart. The car has a I6 in it with an automatic, but there is a clutch pedal, so who knows what else is different.

I'm guessing its a 7 inch, but want to be sure.
Also what is a better bet swapping in an 8.8 or 9 inch? Best/cheapest place to acquire one? Thanks

It's either a 7 or a 7.5 inch.

For your new rear end get an 8.8 out of a 2nd gen explorer (95-01) or a 99-04 Mustang.

There are obviously modifications for both but you can get 'em for really cheap (like 200 bucks) for a full setup with disc brakes and the better 5x4.5 lug pattern. The 8.8 can handle just as much power as a 9 inch for way less money. Check craigslist/local junk yards for your deal of the day!
