What are the subscriptions for?

Why are there subscriptions for threads and what will it do for me? Forgive my ingnorance......... :dw:

You will be notified by email if someone posts to a thread you subscribe to. You need to check the box for this option in your setup options. When you post, you are automatically given a subscription to the thread.
