im lookin to spend about 800 bucks for decent one. so far i see that homedepot has a well priced coleman that is 80 gal and has 12 cfm and 40psi and 10 cfm at 90 psi. is that enough to have continous power to most air tools from impact wrenches and sand blast tools? help me thanks

Are you going to run it on 220v? If you want a brand new one, Ingersoll Rand is pretty decent. I think you can get a 60 or 80 gallon single stage for under $750. I promise you it will out performn the Coleman in any category. I picked up a Curtis Industrial 80 gallon vertical, used, for $850. You really won't find anything comparable at a retailer. It will supply over 25 CFM @160 PSI. I can tape down the trigger of my 3/4" impact, and the compressor doesn't even overcycle.

Here's what I have:
Craftsman 33 gal. Air Compressor, 1.6 hp, Vertical Tank, 150 Max PSI

Not terribly thrilled with it only, and I say ONLY because the motor has a hard time keeping up with the required amount of air usage.

I have a cheap Porter Cable 60 gallon that I got for new $450, It looks alot like that Coleman for $750.

The fellow above is right about Ingersoll being a great brand, here is one from Northen with free shipping for $569 and the specs are a little better than the Colemans for less money.
FREE SHIPPING — Ingersoll Rand Electric Stationary Air Compressor — 3 HP, 10.3 CFM @ 135 PSI, 230 Volt, Model# SS3L3

Coleman for $750 on Home Depot site:
This Air Compressor is powered by a 7HP oil-lubricated, belt drive motor for long life and durability. Its 80 gallon vertical design uses as little space as possible. Providing 12.3 CFM @ 40 PSI and 10.3 CFM @ 90 PSI, this air compressor has the strength to power most tools continuously.

Both are alot alike and will do most everything you ask of them with no problems, running a huge sandblaster continuously will stretch its legs but it will work.
The cast iron compressor on the Ingersoll is a little sturdier unit, the generic aluminum compressor on the Coleman is the exact some one my Porter Cable and many other brand compressors, Devilbiss and Campbell Hausfeld come to mind.
Whatever you do get an OIL LUBRICATED compressor.
