Welding mufflers into stock catback?

I found some 2.25" offset/offset mufflers from MAC, and was wondering if these would be a good fit into our stock catbacks. I've seen a few guys weld the 2.5" mufflers into them, would that be a better way to do it?

It easier to just use the same size as the stock piping.

Excellent. Now, is there much more "restriction" and hp loss on the stock catback vs ,say, a 2.5" aftermarket catback?
