raced a few friends yesterday, volvo 940 (turbo) wagon and a mazda milennia (2.5L) (both auto)
i raced the wagon first, got him off the line by 2 cars, but then i couldnt pull on him, he even had 2 extra passengers
then i raced the milennia, i got about 1&1/2 cars off the line then when we hit 70 he started pulling he even had 2 passengers i think and each had a homemade CAI

my car just has a kkm filter, but it feels weak once it hits over 6k, anyone have this problem or have any recommendations (94k on the car)

IIRC red line is 6200?
and the Contour isn't really geared for 'top end' either
However, weak fuel pump could hurt top end pull

its 6750 fuel shuts off at 7
IIRC contour doesnt really make the power untill its past 5500
when i get past 6 it feels weak and even sounds bad
could it be something getting gunked up?
do you recommend sea foam through the vac lines and injectors?

I haven't had one for almost a year and a half, so I don't remember the numbers specifically.
Has the fuel pump ever been replaced? fuel filter? I'd start there, and also pull off the UIM/LIM and clean them as well. Again, I was never impressed with the CSVT top end pull mainly due to its gearing. Its mid-range is where its at IMO especially with NA.

fuel pump or filter hasnt been replaced, i wouldn't think it would need it already at 94k?
ill start with the filter, but ive heard seafoam helps but im not too sure how to do that
it may have a weak top end, but it has to be better than a milennia2.5:bash:

You'd be surprised. I replaced my stock one at 70k...granted I had a built 3.0L, but don't know if that accounted for any of it.

Damn thats strange. I had a millenia once and it pulled hard but not nearly as hard as my csvt, then I got a millenia s and that sc made a huge differance, but the tranny is still a huge weak link in those cars. I went through 3 in my first one in a year and I babied the car. Then in the s I went through 2 and sold the p.o.s

Jon, get a dyno pull to see if you notice any top end dropoff, BUT, your car does seem to be aimed towards the torque more than horsepower like the focus, IMO the exact opposite of your car. Oh, and i know something that will help your top end...cough turbo cough cough.

already tried lucas injector cleaner, little if no improvement there, but it also just went in
next is seafoam through the vac line
i definitely hear some rattling at idle, and with only the clutch out
i still can get off the line pretty good, the guy in the volvo says he will destroy me though (auto turbo 94, 940 wagon)

You do feel the car open the secondaries right?
Does the rattle go away when you press in your clutch? Throw Out Bearing

Oh lord, a refrigerator on wheels with 200k miles is about to destroy you? :dw::lol1:

*EDIT*
1992 Volvo 940 Turbo 0-60 8.9sec 1/4 mile-16.8
1999 Ford Contour SVT 0-60 6.8sec 1/4 mile-15.2

Sorry, back on topic.

i feel the secondaries opening, and yes the rattle goes away when the clutch is in
throw out bearing is serious cash i bet

the volvo is supposively faster than the milennia 2.5, ive beaten both stock..
now with my new filter the power is only in the low end
i also have much worse gas mileage
