A blow off valve is mandatory for a centrifugal supercharger. A blow off valve releases the boost pressure once it sees your motor go back to vaccum since you let off the gas.

Edit: I see you edited your post so I have to now too. A wastegate will allow you to pulley down on your blower and make more boost sooner and once the wastegate spring opens it will regulate to the lower boost pressure you desire. This usually adds more horsepower and torque down low

Yup wastegate will give you more boost earlier in the rpm range and bleed it off and hold it steady. With 3.33 pulley and 11.6 psi spring i hit 11.6 psi at 6200 rpm's

Just installed a torque booster set up on a paxton car. It did pick up significantly in the mid range but the noise from the waste gate and blow off valve is ridiculous IMO. You'll definitely get attention! Not sure as far as efficiency, but I think going smaller than a 3.33 would be more beneficial in regards to torque gain.
