My fan broke, looks like pressure from the expansion tank fouled the clearance between the fan shroud and the actual fan, the fan cracked then seized plus blew a fuse. Is this a common problem? I have a vert and never use the AC, first time I threw it on I heard a buzzing noise after about 10 min, then a pop, then I see the temp gauge climbing. Drove it home which was another mile away... Made sure the temp didn't get past 240 rolled into my driveway at just about 230... waited a minute, opened the hood and the cap just exploded off the car by itself.
After I got it apart to check the fan I could see where the bottom of the expansion tank was warping the fan housing which caused the crack..
Anyway, my car is heavily modded, anyone go in for a new fan or some failed part which wasn't directly related to a mod? How'd it go?
