I'm getting ready to buy a new truck. I've been planning on getting a new ranger 4X4 with the big 6, etc. But I'm reading alot of reports of even poorer quality issues, very poor dealer service treatment, and Ford is really cutting corners because their in financial trouble. :nonono:

I really want one, but I don't need a "problem-child" daily driver.

What do you guys think? I might have to go Dodge or Chevy, heaven forbid........:(

The 4.0 SOHC Ranger is a strong trouble free truck.

The Dakota is hit or miss quality, but you can get quite powerfull engines, although you start to touch F-series price territory.

The Colorado is WAY too expensive for a car developed for South America. They never even bothered to engineer it to fit a 6, they just stuck the silly I5 in there. We inherited 3 GMC employees lately, and they are stalwarts on Tahoes and Denalis, but they scream out JUNK in two seconds on Colorados.

Look at a very well equipped Ranger, or Maybe even a Regular Cab STX F-series, no power windows, but there is up to 16" behind the seat with the mini doors, the are all 4.6 with the electronic TB and EBD brake boost. You still get the aluminum double wishbones and rack in pinion steering, alloy wheels, and most are equipped with 6-cd changers. They are awesome trucks and get the same mileage as rangers anyway. Rebates top 4000 right now on RC's, here is an example:

This has carpet/tow/fogs/running tubies/cruise/6cd changer, etc, Invoice is $24970, minus another $4000 in rebates!!! I do have STX's $2000 less then that. Check your local dealer, they probably will sell one under invoice for the 31'st, managers get a $100 spin check for the weekend on them ;-)
